hey hey, I’m Marisa!

This is my story...

I am a recent graduate from the University of California, San Diego, where I earned a B.S. in Cognitive Science with a specialization in Design and Interaction, along with minors in Dance and Computer Science.

Passionate about fostering meaningful connections, I am dedicated to giving back to the community that has shaped me. After two years of working to bring it back, I helped revive the Chibi-K Run in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo in collaboration with Kizuna and the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center (JACCC). The beloved event ran for over 25 years before ending in 2011, and its return aims to engage younger generations and create new memories within the Japanese American community.

My approach to design is deeply influenced by my commitment to building community, ensuring that my work reflects inclusivity, connection, and impact. I am passionate about creating meaningful products and experiences that bring people together and hopes to continue learning, growing, and contributing through my work in design.

Outside of design, you will find me dancing and finding the joy in movement. I also love spending time with family and friends, exploring new foods, cooking, playing volleyball, surfing, and indulging in all things matcha, sweet treats, and hotpot.
